To stay and to return to the mothership
There are many reasons why South Africans live abroad. Safety, crime, corruption, jobs or even better jobs, are but a few. Every time a political change happens that decreases the options for survival, more people leave the country. Whilst Non-South Africans are flooding over the borders bringing more crime than intelligence into the country.
South Africans abroad are hoping and praying every day for positive change in SA. Last year was a classic year for South Africans to see and experience that taking on any challenge by standing together is possible, when the Springboks brought back the World Cup. However, the legacy of the previous government will never be broken until the ANC government realizes that our motto “umunye” stands for ALL South Africans standing together and not only one tribe, or one cultures
The success of South Africa lies in what the #IAmstaying group is currently doing: Supporting each other whenever and wherever we can and believing in the good of our fellow citizens.
What if the ANC could step out of Parliament for a year to take a break “from all the drama” and our #Iamstaying movement would step in and we could make decisions together that will benefit every single adult or child in South Africa?
What if the eyes of the ANC and other radical parties are opened so they can understand that the best approach of staying in power lies in investing in the goodwill of the South African people and not in keeping them
from receiving excellent education and making decisions that let them pack up and leave.
We cannot afford to loose any more citizens like farmers that are brutality attacked or any person being attacked at a traffic light by day or by night! Who wants to have their children and grandchildren grow up in a place where they cannot walk down the street without being stolen or raped? We need to stand together against crime and corruption, as they are the enemies of any thriving society.
The taxes that the SA government receives from only 20% taxpayers pays for social grants, medical care, schools, infra structure, retirement and the salaries of their party leaders. Currently 80% of the people in SA need financial support from these taxes. This % can change, but not by removing farmers from their farms or preventing a targeted group of people from getting jobs so that a person with no knowledge or experience gets it, or by making illogical promises to keep their votes.
At this point thousands of South Africans are leaving the country again because of brutalities, arson and strikes. And the ideas of the ANC government of seizing property from the 20% people who have been working tirelessly for the growth of the economy who are in fact “feeding” everyone, does not help at all.
South Africa is one of the few countries in the world that does not need to import food because our farmers are providing us with healthy organic goods. Why can’t these incredible farmers be protected and even rewarded? It’s all upside down. Does the approach of “attack the hand that feeds you”, make sense?
If we want to be a winning nation, the ANC government needs to think bigger in this day and age. A “Robin Hood model” of taking from one group and giving it to another, cannot grow wealth, as “the rich” still need to make money to support the poor, elderly and children with their taxes but by ensuring that all “the poor” are highly educated they will eventually and with time be able to participate in the economic upliftment of the country too. They will no longer have to cup their hands for donations, but on completion of their education will be able to contribute to the government taxes for others to benefit from again. A one-hand-helps-the-other model.
We can learn from failure and success stories in the world with a focus on the following:
- Let’s ensure that our teachers are trained to become the best of the best to help make our kids the best of the best. (Second language or not).
- Let’s ensure that all people have food on their tables bought from their own earnings.,
- Let’s ensure that crime will be avoided and reported with community police presence, monitoring and supporting everything and everyone to promote peace and safety.
- Let’s ensure that everyone can afford their own housing and transport and not rely on the government only.
These are the basic needs of every person and since we are part of an intelligent nation and as the #Iamstaying group has already proven: South Africans have a big heart ♥️. With our hearts and minds and souls we certainly can find solutions for the challenges we have. Let’s just do it.
