Grief and looking at death with new eyes
The day a loved one dies and enters heaven’s doors is one of the most traumatic experiences ever. It’s a final goodbye until one day when we will be joining them. Parents that loose a child cannot stop missing the child. Couples that loose their loved one can hardly breath without the other.
There is a constant missing and deep sadness around every sunrise and every sunset. Nothing is the same. You need to re-adjust and find a new vision for your life to survive.
One vision can be to look at death as new birth. Your child or partner has been born into heaven on the day they died. Living in the presence of God the Father, God the Son Jesus, the Holy Spirit and the angels.
Be happy for them as they live in fulfillment with Jesus, something we are still seeking. Stop thinking about their death and start thinking about their birth in heaven and the joy your partner, child, sister, brother or friend is experiencing in paradise.
Nothing can replace the comforting thought that God is the creator of our lives. He does take care of us even if we cannot understand why he took the person we love so dearly. He knows why we need to live here without them. He wants us to change our focus from them to Him.
When my dad died, I cried for weeks. He was my guide, friend and I loved him and missed him so much. Then God send me a verse from the Bible where a King missed his prophet so much after the death of the prophet. God said “do not rely on people, rely on me.” I realized that God wanted me to see Him first. This changed my thinking and my pain changed to wonder about His love.
He may take your loved one because he wants your undivided attention. He wants our hearts to hang on Him because He never lets us down even if we think he did. He sees the bigger picture and is busy with his work on you. Changing us from a hard ugly rock into a beautiful shining diamond so we can also be united with Him in heaven one day.
Let’s change our focus away from the person we miss and focus on God’s love and rely on His master plan. He will heal our pain and give us new hope.
Lord God, your love is greater than the oceans length, size or depth. Nothing but nothing, not even death can separate me from your love. Fill my heart with calmness and trust and love for my life with you. Thank you for sacrificing your Son to save us All from the sadness of this world into the joy of eternal happiness in your presence. Thank you for caring for my loved ones in heaven and for me and all your children on earth.
