A day of rest and restoration
Often people wonder why a Sunday is needed. Here are 10 reasons why Sundays should be the sprinboard of our week:
1. To take time to rest.
When God created the world he rested on the seventh day, which was the Saturday or Sabbath and is still honored by the Jews. The Christian Church moved it to the first day of the week, the Sunday, which was the day when Jesus was resurrected. The turning point of human kind.
Resting and sleeping in, is one part of it but actually resting in God’s presence is another.
It’s like being led through a green meadow and being given fresh water to drink for our souls and being refreshed for the week.Resting and sleeping in, is one part of it but actually resting in God’s presence is another.
2. To follow His invitation is to honor His day.
We are His children and when He invites us to visit and we do not go, it’s like telling your mother that you can live by calling her everyday for money and help but you do not come over for a time of sharing, caring and hugs. And we know how sad it makes her if we don’t come. She is our lifegiver and loves us more than anybody. Why take it for granted?

We live in His presence every day, but we need to be assured that we are plugged into His word even more. To confirm our faith in Him.
3. To be inspired to keep the word of God as the centre of our live’s.
We often think we are the center of the universe because we are born to think about ourselves first. But we are only complete when we keep Him in the center. His word is the torch/ light in our lives that guides us everyday but the word read to us by the leaders and elders of the church bears their faith too and strengthens us.

4. To thank and praise him for our blessings.
We are not our own little Gods as the Buddhists believe.

He is our God. We may plan our lives and try to get everything together, but we cannot avoid accidents and sad things from happening because that is God and His angel’s work. We therefore pray for Hos blessing and protection in His temple.
5. To pray together with other Christians for world issues.
Our prayers at home are also heard but praying together is stronger. Where two or three are gathered in my name I will be with them.

6. To be united with him through Holy communion.
To become one body and one soul in Him.

7. To be strengthened in our faith for the week and to deal with hardship that comes our way and to be kinder by being reminded of His love and forgiveness and to trust Him more.
8. To see how little children are kept in His word through baptism and teaching them.

This reminds us of our baptism. The day we were accepted into the kingdom of God.
9. To listen and reflect on our lives. In the hectic lifestyles we live we do do not take time to reflect about God and our life’s very often. It’s in the quiet time that we are getting this opportunity.
10. To show our interest in the church community where we can offer our services and be part of a spiritual family. They are there to help when we go through trouble and they pray for us when we are struggling to.

Be blessed and honor the Sunday in your calendar. For God is our heavenly and caring father and the church our extended family!!
