Humbleness and Gratitude
Humbleness and gratitude. My generation grew up in a very strict traditional school and church system. Children were to be seen and not heard. Men took the lead and women were to be quiet. If we accomplished great things we were not supposed to speak about them. The women especially. In my mind after many years of working as a teacher and a professor I have come to the conclusion that men and women alike should be humble as Jesus was. But humbleness does not mean not to have a voice and to think through any situation and to find solutions. We are all called to be servant leaders.
In God’s kingdom there is no difference between men and women, cultures and races. Systems introduced to us by political and religious rulers are not the truth. The truth is that each of us is worthy to be ourselves with our talents and our interests. We may speak if we have a concern, we must have a critical perspective so we can make informed decisions about what to take and what to let go.
If we don’t teach our children to be critical thinkers, they will be swept into the wave of being part of a mass and not a shining light wherever they are.
We are unique in God’s eyes and that is what counts. We are part of a beautiful kingdom that has no end. We are the pinical of His creation and we do not need to proof ourselves by boasting about who we are because He knows that we are beautifully made. This makes us humble and very grateful. We cannot think we are nothing if He created us. We cannot be arrogant either because He gave us everything we are. We can only be grateful and live a life of gratitude, leading by serving. This is the most fulfilling approach. No matter what we were told in the past. God is love and covers every part of our being with his attention and care. Like a new baby in the family.
Let’s be grateful and humble, serve and lead with love and love our neigbouhr as ourselves but most of all our creator, savior and comforter.
