Letting the Christmas Spirit into our lives

Why are we taking ourselves and others so serious? Having respect for one another is great but I don’t get this “riding on a high horse” attitude. We are all the same human beings who receive everything from our creator including talents and health.

It takes a millisecond to smile o r to make eye contact and to say Hello. (With masks). Being kind should be our mantra. Especially in the festive season we are reminded to be festive, very kind and to celebrate every moment.

This year we decided to have one Christmas celebration per day. We started the weekend before the first of Advent with baking cookies. Like an Advent calendar. Instead of opening little doors on we are letting the festivity into our lives bit by bit. And it’s been so much fun.

The day before Advent I started removing Thanksgiving decorations and setup
the Advent wreath with little half bows for AIDS victims and also for Corona and Cancer victims.

Every day there was something either decorating the cookies, making Christmas cards, cleaning cupboards, hanging our Christmas stars, creating a breakfast nook in the corner and singing in two choirs.

Yesterday evening I sang Christmas songs in the Bach Choir for the concert on Sunday and added a light chain from the Christmas tree to the front door and hung our “Merry Christmas”flags. Rick baked a Stollen and helped me to put up the decorations.

Let’s see what this day will bring. But smiles are on the menu and maybe I should light a spicy candle and have a spicy Christmas cookie with my coffee.

Let’s be respectful and kind and avoid being arrogant and critical. High horses are far to fall from. Let’s be humble and let the Christmas spirit in. Even a stable can be a place of honor. And a feeding manger a bed fit for a king.
