Holiday from life

The past year was hard work. Physical and mental work took its toll but the psychological work cannot be described other than exhausting.  We all need a break. A break from the intensity of repetitive news. A long deep breath of relaxation as we pull the year together like the string of a very full washing bag.

The time to let the concerns, worries, fears, and anxieties about the future go: Questions as 1. When will a vaccine be found, 2. Will we see our family and friends again? 3. Will we be able to afford the vaccine? 4. If it works for  95% of the population will the other 5%  die? 5. The statistics are confusing. How will we know what the correct numbers are?

We constantly hear that we need to keep our eyes and ears open for the possible infection rates and keep following the 7 point rules. 1. Sanitize, 2. Wear a mask. 3. Carry your bags with you. 4. Walk straight. 5. Stay 1.5 m apart.  6. Keep your smiling eyes and 7. Be alert.

This post was written on the 29th of December. It's now two months later. Vaccines have come a long way. My husband has been vaccinated and I am waiting for my turn. The infection rate is at 3% now.

The stress is less but still not over yet. We need a break from this pandemic. We all need to not think about the pandemic and live life again. It's hard but it's like living with sickness. You have it but you drink your medication and take it one day at a time.

The holiday we need is here for us to take. We do not need to get into a car or drive to the beach. It would be great but what about creating our own holiday at home:

  1. Take enough breaks whilst working.
  2. Take a nice nap, take a spa bath ( get salt crystals, and add lavender oil.
  3. Play the waves of the ocean in your house.
  4. Drink mineral water out of a wine glass.
  5. Clean your house with a nice smelling detergent (lemon).
  6. Play Italian music and eat Italian food one week and the next week go Greek or Spanish or German etc.
  7. Buy a wooden box and add some river sand (Garden center) take off your shoes and walk in the sand on your porch or in your basement.
  8. Go for a neck and foot massage and a nail manicure. Go for laser treatments for your skin.
  9. Talk to your family once a day and laugh a lot.
  10. Listen to the morning news and watch a good movie or series at night before bed.

Take a  holiday from life every day and breathe...
