Thou shalt not lift your hand at your brother.
No person deserves to be murdered and no person has the right to take the life of another person. In this day and age where all people are supposed to know that killing another person is the worst crime one can ever commit and that humans need to respect each other, murders are still occurring and courts are still dealing with murderers in all countries of the world. However, the percentages are more in poorer countries and less in developed countries. In most countries murders have declined over the years, but in some countries they have increased.(See resource below)
In most countries these murders occur around areas where more people live closely together as in cities or towns but in some cases they are committed in rural areas.
So, the question prevails “How can these murders be prevented?”
Respect, love and forgiveness
The first step would be to ensure that all children learn the law of respect and love in their homes and schools.
Parents and teachers have the most influence on children by making them aware of loving and forgiving. Being unforgiving is where the hate begins. Kids that bully are potential murderers and kids that are bullied too. Bullying should become a ‘crime’ in schools and be treated with a great deal of wisdom. The bully is usually a child that has no support system especially not from his father and is constantly told that he is not good enough. The father or mother needs to break the cycle that the father or mother may have received from their fathers or mothers. The only way to break this cycle is to understand why the previous generation was the way they were and not to foolishly do the same.To forgive your patents and to love them like God forgives and loves and to decide to love yourself because God loves you more. Living from the source of forgiveness you can again love your children unconditionally. This approach will help us to break the cycle of rejection.
For teachers to punish children that bully a special method needs to be applied. Instead of placing the bully in detention and making him write out hundreds of pages, one should rather let him draw a huge graffiti sign with the wording: “Love your neighbor as yourself and God above all. Love and serve your neighbor and your house will be blessed.” to take home and to put it up in the family room. Positive messages are the first steps to prevent negative behavior.
Community involvement
This takes us to the second step which is to educate the communities in cities and towns about respect and caring, security and prevention of crime and murders. They should
- have community meetings twice a year and also
-use local television and radio to promote positive thoughts and acts of kindness and also
- teach them about dealing with foreigners by reporting them to the police immediately
-Keep your eyes open and
- be actively involved in community safety.
- Be part of a neighborhood watch is a good idea.
-Have potlucks or cookouts for a neighborhood will make people aware of people’s struggles and a community that cares should put up a sign that they are doing so for all to read every day. For example: “We are a caring community because you matter.”
If anyone sees anything suspicious like a person out of town buying a gun in a gun store needs to be reported to the police since the thought of not buying local triggers suspicion. ID and address should always be requested for gun sales to keep track of the gun.
Police presence
The third step is to increase the police presence. Police are not supposed to sit in an office all day. Police means public service. They are the servants and carriers of justice in the community. Without their presence criminal acts happen much more frequently.. They need to build good relationships with their community and know their social standing and needs. Policemen can also carry a child to hospital or save a dog out of a tree. They are there to protect and care for the community. Just as force triggers force, fear triggers fear and hate triggers murders, love and care triggers more love and kindness.
Leading by example
The fourth step is the political stance as followed by the government. All people are equal and no one should be treated diffeent@y. Rules need to be applied consistently. Corrupt governments foster corrupt citizens. Leading by example becomes more important as your responsibility increases. Truth and character, service and leadership work hand in hand. By visiting the elderly and children homes. Ensuring that all citizens are safe, have access to quality education, have food and medical care and that the young and healthy can support the old and sick. That the poor are given opportunities and support to grow and to prosper. Not to be looked at as a burden but as potential resources.
Murders in low income communities and politically infused situations are higher than in higher income groups and politically stable areas. This means that more love and support needs to be given to poorer communities. To reveal gangs and syndicates who hate each other or hate a specific group. Hate should be replaced by positivity and rades and shootings by real work. Earning your own money improves your self worth and creates positive thoughts rather than hate and thoughts of revenge or desperation.
Ensure that political insecurities are resolved so no radical measures need to be taken by the communities
Reflect and think again
The final thought is for the murders themselves. Would you want to be shot or stabbed and bleed to death? Do you think that killing a person will solve a problem? No, it will not. Your brain is lying to you. Nothing can be solved by killing people like innocent farmers or children in the cities. It can only worsen the problem.
A positive way to deal with your frustrations is to write up why you are alive and what you want to do to make the works a better place and also, what you can do to prevent crime and improve love. You are in control of your destiny and actions and God loves you more than you can imagine. Be blessed as you enter the change of mind and step into the day with joy.
Love each other as God loves you.
